Bitcoin mining difficulty drops to 126.23T, marking the second consecutive year-on-year decrease in history
2026-08-02 09:46:15
According to CoinMeta, the difficulty of Bitcoin mining has recently decreased by 0.74% to 126.23T, which is about a 14% drop from the high in January 2026 and about a 19.1% decrease from the historical high. It is also below the level of a year ago, marking the second time in Bitcoin's history that the mining difficulty has decreased year-on-year. The report suggests that the weakening of the BTC price, the decline in mining revenue, and miners shifting their funds and power resources to AI and high-performance computing services are the main reasons for the pressure on mining capacity growth. The long-term market expects only a slight improvement in revenue per unit of computing power within this year.
