According to CoinMeta, and as reported by livecoins, the Brazilian police discovered a Bitcoin mining farm suspected of operating through electricity theft at a scrap recycling site. They seized 15 ASIC mining machines and 3 servers on site, with the equipment valued at over $39,400. After inspection, the local power company Cemig determined that the mining farm was using illegally connected electricity, causing an estimated loss of about $11,800 per month. A 37-year-old employee was arrested on the spot for suspicion of theft and receiving stolen goods; he was unable to explain the origin of the equipment or provide any relevant purchase documents. The police are currently investigating the whereabouts of the cryptocurrencies mined at the farm, the source of the equipment, and whether there is a criminal organization behind it.
