According to CoinMeta, community developers utilized AI technology to discover a vulnerability in the Coldcard wallet, which resulted in the theft of 1,196 wallets, causing a loss of approximately 70 million US dollars BTC. The developers used Claude Code to scan the Coldcard open-source firmware and found within 8 minutes that the firmware was using a software pseudo-random number generator instead of a hardware true random number generator when generating private keys. Community users also used Zhipu GLM version 5.2 to independently scan and identified the same vulnerability, which has existed in the open-source wallet code for over five years.
