According to CoinMeta, U.S. President Donald Trump stated on August 2 while returning to Washington aboard Air Force One that the United States was helping Japan to strengthen the yen, calling it a manifestation of friendship and also beneficial to the world economy. He noted that the yen had been weakening and that Japan hoped to receive some assistance. In addition, Trump mentioned, "Japan has always been good to us; except for the Pearl Harbor incident, they weren't so nice back then."
