Bitget Announces Ceasing to Provide Cryptocurrency Services to Japanese Residents
2026-08-03 18:05:58
According to CoinMeta, Bitget has announced that it will stop accepting new account registrations for Japanese residents immediately and has set a timeline for implementing account restrictions starting from November 1st. The exchange stated that any open positions as of December 31st will be automatically closed. Affected users need to complete identity verification before November 1st to avoid being identified as Japanese residents and thus subject to these restrictions. This decision was made after multiple warnings from Japanese regulatory authorities, who first cautioned Bitget in March 2023 for serving Japanese residents without registration.
