New York Fed Chair: Inflation in the U.S. is expected to fall back to the 2% target in the second half of the year
2026-08-03 18:51:32
According to CoinMeta, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell stated that he expects inflation in the United States to continue to decline in the second half of this year and next year, and there is a possibility of returning to the 2% target by 2028. However, if inflation does not fall as expected, it would be "completely appropriate" for the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates. He expressed strong support for maintaining the federal funds rate at 3.50%–3.75% last week, believing that the current policy stance is still appropriate. In June, U.S. inflation rose by 3.7% year-on-year, and the market has already taken into account a higher likelihood of interest rate hikes this year.
