According to CoinMeta, Bitget has announced that it will cease services to Japanese residents in order to comply with local regulations. The exchange currently ranks fifth in Coingecko and had a trading volume of approximately 714.7 million US dollars in the past 24 hours. Bitget stopped accepting new registrations from Japanese residents on Sunday and required existing users to complete secondary identity verification by November 1st, which includes providing proof of address. Accounts that do not complete the verification will be treated as Japanese accounts and will enter a closed mode starting from November 1st; users will not be able to open new positions or increase their holdings. Bitget also stated that all remaining positions will be forcibly liquidated on December 31st, and card services will be suspended. Users will still be able to withdraw their assets after that date.
