Maritime Analysis Company: 6 Saudi oil tankers detoured around the Cape of Good Hope to avoid the Red Sea route

According to CoinMeta, ship tracking data released by Windward Maritime Analytics on the 3rd shows that six Saudi Arabian oil tankers are heading towards the Cape of Good Hope in Africa, avoiding the Strait of Mandeb and the Red Sea route in order to circumvent the security risks posed by Yemeni Houthi militants to Saudi-associated vessels. The analysis by the company indicates that for some of the tankers destined for the United States, detouring around the Cape of Good Hope will add about 6 to 7 days to their voyage compared to the direct route through the Suez Canal and the Strait of Mandeb. Windward believes that all six tankers have chosen to take this detour during their empty-cargo voyages, which may be part of Saudi Arabia's overall operational policy to prevent its vessels from entering these areas, rather than a temporary measure taken due to specific cargo-related risks.
