According to CoinMeta, U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Monday local time that due to the war in Iran causing an increase in crude oil prices, ExxonMobil ( XOM.N ) and Chevron ( CVX.N ) had made excessive profits. “They made too much money based on the supply shortage,” Trump told reporters at the White House, “I don’t like that.” ExxonMobil and Chevron announced their substantial profits for the second quarter last Friday. Chevron’s profits soared by nearly 400% to $12 billion, from $2.5 billion in the same period last year. ExxonMobil’s profits more than doubled to $14.5 billion from $7.1 billion in the same period last year. “Chevron, they made too much money. ExxonMobil, they made too much money,” Trump said, “They should give back a part of that to the public, and they’d better lower the retail prices, that is, the prices consumers pay.”
