According to CoinMeta, MicroStrategy (MSTR) sold 1,638 bitcoins over the past week, worth approximately $105 million, continuing the sales trend that began this summer. This sale came after the company had not engaged in any buying or selling for three consecutive weeks; in the preceding two weeks, they sold 3,588 bitcoins worth $216 million. This transaction is part of Strategy's newly launched bitcoin monetization plan, aimed at strengthening the company's cash reserves and supporting dividend payments. Michael Saylor, the chairman of Strategy, stated that the company also increased its dollar reserves by $250 million and repurchased STRC worth $81 million, which are perpetual preferred stocks that pay a 12% annual dividend. Strategy is the first publicly traded company to use bitcoins as its sole financial reserve asset and remains the largest holder of bitcoins among global corporations.
