According to CoinMeta, the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced plans to establish an Industrial Resources Security Fund to ensure the security of key mineral resources, expand oil and mineral reserves, and diversify crude oil imports. At a briefing for the second half of the year held at the Blue House, the ministry stated that given the importance of resource security highlighted by the conflicts in the Middle East, it intends to build a medium- to long-term resource security framework, and will utilize a special energy account as a source of funding. Previously, this ministry was responsible for the operation and management of the special energy account, but after a government reorganization last October, this responsibility was transferred to the Ministry of Climate and Environment. However, this account will now be reactivated.
