According to CoinMeta, U.S. Democratic senators Elizabeth Warren and Richard Blumenthal have written to the chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Paul Atkins, requesting an investigation into whether Trump's Meme token Trump involves fraud, improper profit-taking, or other illegal activities. The two argue that the project may constitute an "illegal scam" or a "soft exit" involving a gradual withdrawal of liquidity and price support, and they are demanding that SEC verify whether it continues to extract substantial value from investors. Reports indicate that entities affiliated with the Trump organization once held approximately 80% of the Trump supply, and the token's market value reached around $9 billion in January 2025, but has now dropped to less than $400 million. Research shows that as of the end of June, nearly 1 million investors have suffered a total loss of about $3.8 billion.
