According to CoinMeta, MicroStrategy ( MSTR ) disclosed in its latest 8-K filing that it has sold 1,638 bitcoins, with a transaction amount of approximately $105 million. This marks the first time in six consecutive weeks that the company has not purchased bitcoins, indicating a clear shift from its historical accumulation strategy to a selling strategy. The average selling price of these bitcoins was around $64,000, which is lower than the company’s overall average purchase price of $75,419, meaning that the company incurred a loss on each bitcoin sold. Nevertheless, MicroStrategy remains one of the largest corporate holders of bitcoins globally, and this latest sale accounts for only a small portion of its total investment portfolio.
