According to CoinMeta, the trade deficit in the United States narrowed in June, with imports declining for the first time since the beginning of the year. Data released by the U.S. Department of Commerce on Tuesday showed that the trade deficit for goods and services in June fell by 5.6% from the previous month to $73.3 billion. Imports decreased by 1.8%, while exports fell by 0.9%. Trade data indicates that net exports have continued to drag down economic growth this quarter. Influenced by changes in tariff policies, disruptions to supply chains caused by the Middle East wars, and companies' heavy investment in artificial intelligence, U.S. trade data has seen significant fluctuations in recent months. Although the U.S. Supreme Court overturned many of the import tariffs implemented by the Trump administration in the first quarter, the government is still seeking other ways to impose tariffs on imported goods. The latest trade report shows that imports of computers and semiconductors slowed down in June, and imports of a broader category of capital goods, including related equipment, also declined for the first time since September last year.
