According to CoinMeta, the BRICS 2026 Summit will be held on September 12-13 in New Delhi. The agenda of the conference will focus on payment infrastructure, rather than shared BRICS currencies. Although decoupling from the US dollar remains a focal point for various countries, the actual discussions will revolve around establishing cross-border BRICS payment systems to connect India's UPI, Russia's SPFS, and China's CIPS. According to the latest data, more than 85% of trade between BRICS countries at the beginning of 2026 was settled in their respective domestic currencies, which represents a significant increase from 65% at the end of 2024.
