Senator Cynthia Lummis: Pushing for a Vote on the CLARITY Bill Before the August Recess
2026-08-06 03:32:07
According to CoinMeta, as reported by Cointelegraph, Senator Cynthia Lummis stated that the Senate will vote on the Digital Assets Market Clarity Act (CLARITY Act) before its recess in August. The bill was passed in the House of Representatives in July 2025 with a vote of 294 to 134, but the Senate still requires 60 votes to overcome a filibuster and advance the legislation. Currently, the bill faces opposition from Democrats who demand stronger ethical provisions, as well as a reserved attitude from Republican Senator Josh Hawley regarding concerns related to banks. If the voting is not completed by the end of this weekend, deliberations will be postponed until after the Senate resumes in mid-September, and may even be extended into the mid-term election cycle of 2026.
