According to CoinMeta, several core Ethereum developers have proposed a new initiative to gradually phase out the rewards for new validators in order to address the increasing number of ETH stakings in the network. This proposal has sparked debate; some believe it will support Ethereum’s price in the long term, while others worry that lower staking rewards may reduce the attractiveness of ETH to investors. The proposal suggests that when the staking of ETH reaches 50% of the total supply, new coin issuance will be completely balanced by destroying an equal number of ETH. Although the proposal has not yet been given an official EIP number, it has already drawn attention from the Ethereum community. Market analyst Cryptollica pointed out that Ethereum’s current structure is similar to that from 2018 to 2020, and if buyers maintain control, the price of ETH could rise after breaking through resistance levels.
