According to CoinMeta, the next move of the US dollar will depend on inflation data, while the Japanese yen is waiting for the actions of the Bank of Japan. On Tuesday, the US dollar weakened generally after multiple reports indicated that a deal between the United States and Iran was imminent. Qatari mediators reported that a draft of the possible agreement between the two countries had been prepared, and subsequently, US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin confirmed that an agreement with Iran might have been reached yesterday, which would include the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Although the losses of the US dollar narrowed later in the day, expectations for the agreement could still put pressure on the dollar, unless there is a new escalation. Next week, the US CPI report will be released, and this data is crucial for the September FOMC decisions and the Jackson Hole Symposium. A strong report could trigger a rebound in the dollar, whereas a weak report could further reduce the risk of the Federal Reserve tightening its policies, putting additional pressure on the dollar.
