Strongblock attacked, suffering losses of approximately $72,000

According to CoinMeta, the governance system of Strongblock was hijacked by attackers, resulting in the theft of approximately $72,000 worth of Strong and STRNGR tokens. According to a report from blockchain security firm Defimon Alerts, the attackers controlled the deprecated on-chain governance system of Strongblock through malicious proposals, gaining sufficient voting rights to pass these proposals and ultimately taking control of the protocol's governance contract. The attackers exploited vulnerabilities in the governance process rather than smart contract flaws to obtain privileged access, and then upgraded the governance agents to allow arbitrary contract calls. This incident highlights the vulnerability of governance systems, as the attackers used the permissions granted by the protocol itself to transfer assets after the governance proposals were completed.
