Lummis: If the bill fails, the Democrats should be held responsible
2026-08-06 20:02:33
According to CoinMeta, Senator Cynthia Lummis stated in an interview with Fox Business that the Democratic Party still has unreasonable demands regarding the Crypto Clarification Act, which is hindering the progress of the bill. She emphasized that if the bill does not pass, the responsibility lies with the Democratic Party. Lummis also mentioned that the bill reached a deadlock in 2026, partly due to concerns from banking lobbies about allowing crypto companies to enable their customers to earn profits from stablecoins. The updated bill, proposed in July, addresses these ethical issues by prohibiting government officials and their families from issuing or promoting cryptocurrencies. Major financial institutions such as Fidelity and Blackstone have already supported this bill, and if it passes, it will establish a regulatory framework for the U.S. crypto market.
