According to CoinMeta, Vercel in collaboration with AWS, Cursor, GitHub, Microsoft, and OpenAI has launched Agent Plugins version 1.0.0, which establishes a unified and open packaging format for AI Agent plugins. In the past, switching from one Skill or MCP service to a different client often required reorganizing directories and reconfiguring settings. Now, with the unified packaging format, compatible clients can directly recognize and load the plugins. The first batch of supported clients includes ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Kiro, and VS Code. Version 1.0 only unifies Skills and MCP; capabilities such as commands and Hooks are still implemented by each provider individually, and installation, permissions, and distribution are not managed by this new format.
