Japan's Financial Services Agency requires crypto exchanges to implement new withdrawal restrictions to combat fraud
2026-08-07 16:30:19
According to CoinMeta, the Financial Services Agency of Japan and the National Police Agency have jointly urged the Japanese Cryptocurrency Exchange Association to strengthen measures against cryptocurrency fraud. As criminal methods become increasingly sophisticated and losses to exchange customers continue to grow, the relevant agencies have requested that members of the association restrict cryptocurrency withdrawals for a certain period after customers deposit fiat currency or purchase crypto assets. In addition, exchanges are also required to implement a pre-registration system for withdrawal destinations, set withdrawal limits after registration, conduct more stringent account opening checks, ensure clear confirmation and warnings to customers, enhance monitoring of the trading and access environment, and take prompt action upon detecting suspicious activities.
