According to CoinMeta, in July, the number of non-farm jobs in the United States unexpectedly declined by 23,000, causing the price of Bitcoin to break through $65,000. According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, economists had originally expected an increase of 80,000 to 85,000 new jobs. This decline is the third largest monthly decrease since 2020 and stands in sharp contrast to the 57,000 new jobs added in June. The unemployment rate fell slightly to 4.1%, and annual salary growth slowed to 3.2%. Market expectations for future interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve have changed, with the probability of a hike before the end of 2026 dropping to 56%.
