Kevin Loaec: BIP-110 may encounter replay attacks when forming a small number of chains

According to CoinMeta, Bitcoin developer Kevin Loaec stated that if BIP-110 forms into multiple chains this weekend, holders who attempt to sell the forked coins may face replay attacks. Since both chains can initially accept the same transactions, the transactions signed when selling the forked coins could be rebroadcasted onto the original Bitcoin chain, allowing buyers to receive an equivalent amount of BTC as well. Loaec suggests that large coin holders might be the first targets. For users who are not clear on how to separate assets between the two chains, it is safer not to move their funds for now. The transaction data restrictions imposed by BIP-110 are expected to take effect at block height 965,664; therefore, there will be no automatic replay protection before that time.
