Brazil Introduces New Regulations: Crypto Transfers Over $10,000 Will Be Delayed by 24 Hours
2026-08-08 19:32:51
According to CoinMeta, the Central Bank of Brazil announced that for cryptocurrency transfers exceeding $10,000, there will be a delay of up to 24 hours to prevent fraudulent activities. This measure will take effect in 2027 and applies to transfers to foreign virtual asset companies and self-hosted wallets. This move reflects the increasing use of virtual assets (including stablecoins) in financial fraud. The delay is intended to provide exchanges and financial institutions with more time to review suspicious transactions. Transfers below $10,000 are not affected by this requirement. Brazilian crypto exchanges and virtual asset service providers need to upgrade their monitoring systems before the new regulations are implemented.
