According to CoinMeta, the new crypto transfer rules introduced by the Brazilian Central Bank may result in delays of up to 24 hours for transactions exceeding $10,000. The measure targets transfers sent to overseas virtual asset service providers and self-hosted wallets, with the aim of addressing sudden transfers of fraudulent gains via virtual assets, including stablecoins. The new rules apply to single transactions over $10,000, or transactions that cumulatively exceed this amount within a day. Eligible transactions may face temporary delays during additional checks by financial institutions. The central bank stated that this measure does not permanently freeze assets and does not prevent customers from completing transfers after the review period. This measure is related to the increasing use of virtual assets in financial fraud, particularly stablecoins.
