According to CoinMeta, as reported by The Washington Post, the war in Iran has led to a sharp reduction in the U.S. defense inventory. The Pentagon has demanded that defense companies rapidly increase their production and delivery capabilities of weapons, especially ammunition, which is in short supply due to the war. On Wednesday, U.S. Deputy Defense Secretary Steve Van Berg sent a letter to industry leaders, requesting them to submit plans within 21 days to "significantly accelerate the delivery process and/or increase the output of key capabilities." He stated, "A development cycle of several years is unacceptable. We must greatly speed up the project progress and immediately expand production capacity." This directive comes at a time when the shortage of weapons has become a source of tension between Trump and the U.S. Department of Defense.
