National Bureau of Statistics: In July, the year-on-year increase of PPI fell back to 3.5%

According to CoinMeta, Dong Lijuan, the chief statistician of the Urban Department of the National Bureau of Statistics, stated that in July, the national PPI increased by 3.5% year-on-year, with the growth rate falling by 0.6 percentage points compared to the previous month. Among the major industries, the petroleum and natural gas extraction industry rose by 3.2%, the petroleum, coal, and other fuels processing industry rose by 8.2%, and the chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry rose by 9.1%. The non-ferrous metal mining and processing industry as well as the smelting and processing industry rose by 22.6% and 20.2%, respectively, while the ferrous metal smelting industry rose by 2.7%. These six industries collectively contributed to a year-on-year increase of about 2.55 percentage points in PPI. The coal mining and processing industry rose by 27.1%, the electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry rose by 5.7%, and the computer communications and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry rose by 4.4%, collectively contributing to a year-on-year increase of about 1.53 percentage points in PPI. The five industries most affected by price declines were electricity and heat production, automobile manufacturing, non-metallic mineral products, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and wine and beverages, with declines ranging from 2.3% to 5.7%, collectively contributing to a year-on-year decrease of about 0.76 percentage points in PPI.
