China's CPI in July dropped to a six-month low, and producer prices also fell back
2026-08-09 12:33:10
According to CoinMeta, and as reported by InvestingLive, China's Consumer Price Index (CPI) in July rose by 0.5% year-on-year, marking the lowest level in six months, and decreased by 0.1% month-on-month. The Producer Price Index (PPI) rose by 3.5% year-on-year, lower than economists' expectations of 3.8%. Analysis indicates that despite the impact of the Iran conflict and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, producer prices once rose, but current low oil prices and weak demand have led to both CPI and PPI falling below expectations, indicating that the deflationary pressures faced by the Chinese economy have not been fully resolved.
