According to CoinMeta, the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) plans to conduct on-site and off-site audits of some authorized crypto asset custodian services from the second half of 2026 to the first half of 2027. This initiative is coordinated by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), with a focus on checking operational resilience issues such as private key and wallet storage, access control, transaction monitoring, incident response, smart contract security, and third-party risks. CySEC stated that these compliance requirements are mandatory, and they will be used to select the subjects for subsequent audits.
