According to CoinMeta, in her podcast “Women and Money,” Suze Orman responded to an email from a 62-year-old listener Ed. Ed almost chose the wrong employer pension payment plan, which could result in his wife’s monthly income decreasing to $605 after his death. Orman advised Ed to make a IRA transfer; it is expected that after 8 years, the $200,000 will grow to $300,000, and the entire amount will be passed on to Ed’s wife. Ed’s wife is 8 years younger than him and statistically may live 15-20 years longer, so it is crucial to delay receiving social security until the age of 70. Orman emphasized that many financial professionals are salespeople whose income depends on the products they promote, whereas trustees have a legal obligation to put the clients’ interests first.
