According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Israel's Channel 12 television station, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu had agreed to a limited withdrawal of Israeli forces from three areas near the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah, but he changed his mind on the same day. The report cited officials from Israeli security services as saying that Netanyahu and the Israeli Defense Forces Chief of Staff, Zamir, attended relevant consultations last week to discuss the withdrawal from the Rafah area, and both Israel and the United States approved the withdrawal plan. However, on the 9th, the Israeli Defense Forces and security agencies learned that Netanyahu had changed his mind. Netanyahu stated at a cabinet meeting that Israel rejected the so-called Gaza peace plan proposed by the “Peace Committee” initiated by the United States, and said that Israeli forces would not withdraw from the Gaza Strip until Hamas truly disarmed. Israel's Channel 12 television station reported that Netanyahu's change in stance came as a great surprise to Israeli security agencies.
