According to CoinMeta, a contract employee from Iowa was sentenced to over a year in federal prison for submitting multiple fraudulent unemployment claims. Victoria Tommett Green ( Victoria Tomeatre Green ), 29 years old, admitted to submitting 25 fraudulent claims under her own name using her position, and an additional 27 fraudulent claims by abusing the identities of others. The fraud occurred between March 2020 and December 2020, resulting in improper payments totaling $29,459. Anthony P. DeSposito ( Anthony P . D’ Esposito ), the U.S. Department of Labor's Inspector General, stated, "By exploiting the identities of innocent individuals, Green brazenly stole funds that were intended to support unemployed American workers." Green was sentenced to 12 months and one day in federal prison, and upon completion of her sentence, she will also have to undergo three years of supervised release and repay the stolen amount in full. The U.S. Department of Labor's Inspector General's Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted investigations into this case.
