The water level of the Danube River has dropped to a record low, limiting the transport volume through Romania. At the same time, Russia's escalating attacks are transferring Ukrainian grain from Odessa and other ports. The Black Sea is a major export route for both Russia and Ukraine, two major agricultural countries that together account for more than a quarter of the world's wheat exports. The continuous attacks on the region's grain infrastructure and vessels have renewed concerns about the reliability of exports from one of the world's most important grain granaries, adding risks to the global food supply that is already affected by severe weather. Last month, the futures prices of wheat and corn in Paris and Chicago both rose significantly.
