According to CoinMeta, the monthly transaction volume of CIPS (the cross-border bank payment system) has reached 7 trillion US dollars. As China expands the use of the RMB for payments, the trend towards de-dollarization is becoming increasingly evident. Multiple countries, due to sanctions, frozen reserves, and trade tensions, are gradually shifting to alternative settlement systems. According to data from the People's Bank of China, in 2025, CIPS processed 8.44419 million transactions, with an annual transaction volume of about 25.55 trillion US dollars. In the first half of 2026, transaction activity continued to rise, with the average daily transaction volume increasing from approximately 96 billion US dollars in 2025 to about 118 billion US dollars in June 2026. CIPS now connects 210 direct participants and 1,619 indirect participants, demonstrating its importance in international settlements.
