Hamaker: Inflation not meeting targets, interest rate hikes may be needed to curb inflation

According to CoinMeta, Cleveland Federal Reserve Chairman Loretta Harker stated that current inflation has not yet returned to the target level, and the Federal Reserve may need to raise interest rates. She said that a 25-basis-point rate hike would not have a significant impact on the economy, but she is reluctant to predict the exact number of hikes or the final interest rate level. Harker believes that the current interest rate range of 3.50%-3.75% has not imposed a clear constraint on the economy, and businesses have not reduced their growth investments due to high interest rates. Now is the time to take action. She emphasized that the longer we wait, the more difficult it will be to bring inflation back down to 2%. At the Federal Reserve's July interest rate meeting, Harker opposed keeping interest rates unchanged and favored a 25-basis-point hike.
