According to CoinMeta, Dave Ramsey warns that nearly 50% of Americans have made a major mistake regarding social security and provides a three-step solution. According to Ramsey's 2023 "Retirement Crisis Today" study, 42% of Americans are not saving for the future at present. The survey shows that nearly 62% of retired Americans indicate that social security is their main source of retirement income, but these benefits are only designed to replace 40% of their pre-retirement income. It is estimated that by 2026, the average monthly benefit from social security retirement will be $2,071, with an annual income of just over $24,852, which is far below the amount required for a comfortable retirement. Ramsey suggests that anyone who hopes to have a comfortable retirement life should set a minimum monthly savings benchmark, recommending a savings ratio of 15% of total income. In addition, utilizing tax-advantaged accounts such as 401(k)s and Roth IRA is also an important way to reduce the tax burden.
