According to CoinMeta, following a series of accusations against Chinese model distillation, Anthropic has hidden the thinking summaries of Fable. As a result, Fable no longer displays these thinking summaries on web, desktop, or mobile platforms. The models continue to perform inference in the background, and users can only see the final answers. Anthropic has not yet provided an explanation for this, but it is likely to be the latest measure against distillation. In February of this year, Anthropic accused DeepSeek, Moon's Dark Side, and Minimax of using approximately 24,000 fake accounts to interact with Claude over 16 million times. In June, Anthropic accused Alibaba and Qianwen-related operators of similar activities. Researchers have found that anti-distillation measures may not be very effective, as recent studies indicate that smaller models can directly extract the thought processes of larger models.
