SEC Proposes New Regulations for Cryptocurrencies as a Backup Plan for Clearer Legislation

According to CoinMeta, the cryptocurrency proposal put forward by SEC on Friday is now considered a backup plan due to the stagnation in the progress of the Clear Act. After the Senate recess without voting, Chairman Paul Atkins of SEC is pushing ahead with his own "cryptocurrency regulation" rules. These rules will create registration exemptions and safe harbors for token issuance based on SEC-CFTC's token taxonomy.
