According to CoinMeta, Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) is expected to invest around $400 million in repairing its aluminium smelter located in Abu Dhabi, which was damaged during the war. In a statement, EGA stated that the smelter's production is expected to return to pre-war levels in the first quarter of next year. Currently, about 18% of the electrolytic cells have been restarted, while at the beginning of July, only 7% were operational. Although the damage to the smelter forced EGA to invoke force majeure and suspend some deliveries, it continues to export aluminium products by using alternative shipping routes that avoid the Strait of Hormuz.
