GoPlusSecurity: Users lose approximately $100,000 due to address poisoning attacks
2026-08-12 20:48:36
According to CoinMeta, GoPlusSecurity reports that a user lost approximately $100,000 due to a phishing attack on their wallet address. After making a transfer 69 days ago, the victim received over 400 fraudulent transactions. The attackers sent small transactions from malicious addresses that mimicked the intended recipient address of the victim, usually matching the first and last few characters to trick users into making copying and pasting mistakes. Such attacks have now become fully automated, involving identifying targets, generating similar addresses, deploying counterfeit tokens, sending minor transactions, and then laundering money through mixers. The victim's address is 0x9b4ded0ab7754428f7ec0f63a42bae70d2f51d83, the intended recipient address is 0xae7c0ffab6e77be2d7d7880a4ce433f59a4e2c85, and the phishing address is 0xae7c08afad91db18666eeac055d7562c9f4e2c85. Security reminders: • Never copy the recipient address from your transaction history. • Verify the entire address, not just the first and last few characters. • Always send a small test transaction before transferring large amounts of funds.
