According to CoinMeta, on Wednesday morning, the Solana blockchain experienced a routing failure with its main data center provider, resulting in nearly 29% of the network's staked tokens being offline. The staking platform Marinade stated that the network was just about 20 million tokens short of this threshold. Approximately 90 validators were affected, suffering a total loss of 333 SOL in rewards, which is relatively small and will be covered by "validator bonds." Marinade pointed out that if more than one-third of the staked tokens go offline, blockchain transactions will not be able to be finalized. This incident serves as a clear warning: if more than one-third of the network's tokens go offline at the same time, the entire blockchain will freeze, and users holding SOL will not be able to quickly recover from the subsequent greater damages.
