According to CoinMeta, the price of Pi Network ( PI ) rose by more than 5% on August 12, approaching $0.090. This increase was supported by the cooling down of CPI and the approval of the Protocol 26 upgrade. According to Crypto.News data, trading activity also increased by about 35%. After the deadline for the Protocol 26 upgrade on August 11, the price of Pi was near $0.0883 at that time. The core team of Pi stated that nodes that failed to complete the upgrade before the deadline would lose their connection to the mainnet. Protocol 26 is aimed at improving the security and interoperability of smart contracts and preparing for the upcoming Protocol 27. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the consumer price index rose by 0.1% in July, with a year-on-year increase of 3.4%. The annual inflation rate slowed from 3.5% in June, and the core CPI increased by 0.2% month-on-month and 2.5% year-on-year. The slowdown in inflation may reduce the pressure for the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates further, which usually supports risk assets. The price of Pi is still more than 95% lower than its peak in February 2025 and faces the risk of significant volatility.
