ASX Shareholders File Lawsuit Against Failed Blockchain Project
2026-08-13 09:20:32
According to CoinMeta, a shareholder of the Australian Securities Exchange plans to seek permission from the federal court to sue certain former executives and directors of ASX for breaches of their responsibilities related to the failed blockchain clearing and settlement reforms. ASX recently admitted to misleading the market in this project, and the shareholder's lawsuit may test whether shareholders can hold former ASX leaders accountable for this most costly fintech failure in Australia. The project began exploring alternative solutions in 2016 but was suspended in 2022 due to design issues and was ultimately abandoned in 2023.
