According to CoinMeta, as monitored by Whale Alert, a Bitcoin transaction confirmed on August 12 paid a total of 1.60343885 BTC (approximately $102,000) in fees to miners, with all outputs being 0 BTC. The effective fee rate for this transaction was about 117,062 sat / vb, which is approximately 39,021 times higher than the normal fee rate. From the structure of the transaction, it appears that the OP_RETURN transaction was not set up correctly, resulting in all of the input amount being counted as transaction fees.
