According to CoinMeta, hardware wallet manufacturer Trezor issued a statement on Thursday revealing that one of its shipping suppliers experienced a major data breach, affecting the sensitive personal information of nearly 14,000 customers. Trezor stated that the data of 11,742 customers was completely exposed, including full names, mailing addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. Another 1,947 customers had their data partially exposed, with only names and email addresses compromised. The affected customers came from the United States, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Colombia, Brazil, Italy, and Portugal, and had placed orders within 90 days prior to August 8th. Trezor emphasized that its own systems and hardware wallets were not affected, and attributed the breach to its shipping supplier. Trezor warned that the exposed contact and mailing information could be used for phishing and other social engineering attacks against customers, and reminded them to obtain software and security updates only through official channels. The company is investigating this incident and will post further updates on its blog, while also announcing that it is developing anonymous delivery options in response to this breach.
