According to CoinMeta, and as reported by The Wall Street Journal, UBS, Switzerland's largest bank, announced an increase of 230% in its spot Bitcoin holdings, reaching 90 million US dollars. UBS Group has increased its shares in Blackstone's Bitcoin trust to approximately 2.5 million shares, with a total holding value of around 90 million US dollars. UBS initially purchased 3,600 Bitcoin shares in early 2024 for less than 150,000 US dollars each. UBS is also making IBIT and similar products available to its wealth management clients, indicating that the bank's balance sheet and customer service business are growing in tandem. The bank is evaluating the possibility of offering cryptocurrency trading to its Swiss private banking clients, initially allowing some clients to trade Bitcoin and Ethereum, with potential expansion to the Asia-Pacific and US markets.
