According to CoinMeta, SMIC, in conjunction with CEO Zhao Haijun, introduced at the second-quarter earnings meeting that during the second quarter, the company saw an increase in both the volume and price of its wafers, with quarterly revenue exceeding one billion US dollars. All key operational indicators showed significant year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter growth. Among them, shipments increased by 14.4% quarter-on-quarter, and the average selling price per wafer rose by 5.7% quarter-on-quarter. The increase in shipments was mainly due to the surge in demand for supporting chips in artificial intelligence and customers' requests for expedited deliveries. During that quarter, the company added 8,000 new wafers, equivalent to a monthly production capacity of 12 inches, with a capacity utilization rate of 93.7%, which represents a quarter-on-quarter increase of 0.6 percentage points.
