According to CoinMeta, the Nikkei 225 index rose 0.59% on Friday, closing at 68,713.80 points, setting a new all-time closing high and continuing this week's upward trend. The broader Toyo Securities Index also rose 0.51%, closing at 4,197.20 points, reaching a new historical high. Weak U.S. producer price data alleviated market concerns about upcoming interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve and boosted risk appetite. Both the S&P 500 index and the Nasdaq index set new historical closing highs. Wataru Akiyama, a stock strategist at Nomura Securities, stated that the rise in U.S. stock prices is being transmitted to the Japanese market, and the decline in crude oil prices as well as a slowdown in inflation are also beneficial for the Japanese stock market. Among the components of the Nikkei 225 index, the company most affected by the gains was Nintendo-related companies, which rose 19.85%, marking the largest single-day increase since February 2024. Following that was IT, which rose 7.57%, while Nintendo itself rose 6.91%.
