According to CoinMeta, President Trump announced the imposition of import tariffs on drone components manufactured abroad, with the aim of promoting American manufacturing and protecting national security. This move led to an increase in drone stocks on Friday, with the stock price of Unusual Machines rising by 10%, and Red Cat rising by about 5%. The White House stated that American drone production needs to be rapidly expanded to ensure national and economic security, and pointed out that outsourcing components poses significant security and cyber risks. These tariffs will impose a 100% tariff on large drones with “sensitive” military capabilities, while small drones lacking such capabilities will be subject to a 25% tariff. Trump also imposed a 15% tariff on drones and their components from the European Union, Japan, Liechtenstein, South Korea, Switzerland, and Taiwan, and a 10% tariff on those from the United Kingdom.
